Glossary
The language of conversation growth.
Plain-language definitions of the terms behind social listening, engagement and attribution, the vocabulary GrowthMeteor is built on.
A
- Adaptive monitoringAdaptive monitoring tunes how often a source is checked based on its activity, scanning faster when a community heats up and slower when it's quiet.
- AI creditsAI credits are a usage unit that translates the real cost of AI work, scanning, triaging and drafting, into a single transparent, budgetable number.
- Approval autonomyApproval autonomy is how much an engagement tool is allowed to act on its own, from drafting only, to auto-posting confident replies within limits you set.
- Auto-postingAuto-posting lets an engagement tool publish approved-style replies on its own, within limits, instead of waiting for a human to click send each time.
B
- Brand safetyBrand safety is the set of guardrails that keep your brand from replying in a way that's off-message, off-limits or likely to cause harm.
- Buying signalA buying signal is a public post that shows someone is actively looking for, or ready to buy, a product like yours, rather than just mentioning the category in passing.
C
- Churn riskChurn risk is a signal that one of your own customers is publicly unhappy or considering leaving, so you can step in before they actually go.
- Compliance checkA compliance check reads a reply and the rules of where it's about to be posted, and blocks or holds anything that would break them, before it goes live.
- Confidence scoreA confidence score is how sure the system is about a judgment it made, like whether a mention is relevant, so you can filter out the low-confidence noise.
- Conversion attributionConversion attribution ties a downstream action, like a signup or purchase, back to the specific touchpoint that drove it.
- Crisis detectionCrisis detection is the early identification of a negative spike in mentions, ideally forecasting a brewing reputation problem before it peaks.
I
- Influence scoringInfluence scoring weights a mention by the reach of its author, so a message from a large or authoritative account is treated as more significant.
- Intent rankingIntent ranking scores each social mention by how likely the author is to act, so buying signals rise above general chatter.
S
- Sentiment analysisSentiment analysis is the classification of a mention's emotional tone, from very positive to very negative, to track how people feel about a brand over time.
- Share of voiceShare of voice is your portion of the total conversation about a category, measured against competitors over a period of time.
- Social listeningSocial listening is the practice of monitoring public conversations across social platforms for mentions of your brand, competitors and topics, then acting on what you find.
- Social sellingSocial selling is the practice of finding and engaging prospects in public social conversations, building trust through helpful interaction rather than cold outreach.
