Trend spotting that catches break-outs before they peak

The trend agent watches reach-weighted volume for acceleration and surfaces rising, positive conversations early, so you ride the wave while attention is still climbing instead of arriving after the moment has passed.

Conversation breaking out, ~3h to peak.

Reach-weighted volume is accelerating and the mood is positive. Engaging now, while attention is climbing, captures the most reach.

By the time a topic is obviously trending, the moment is gone.

The best conversations to join are the ones still climbing, where attention is rising and the mood is positive. But most tools only show you what is already big, so you find the thread after it has crested and your reply lands in a cold room. A simple mention count cannot tell a real break-out from everyday noise, and it cannot tell you a topic is accelerating until it is too late to matter.

  • ×Trends spotted only after they peak, when engagement is already falling
  • ×Raw mention counts that hide which topics are actually accelerating
  • ×No way to tell a genuine break-out from a slow, steady hum of chatter
How it works

How GrowthMeteor spots trends and forecasts break-outs

Step 1

Catch topics while they are still climbing

The trend agent compares each topic's volume in the last 24 hours against the day before, so it surfaces conversations that are genuinely accelerating, not ones that have been chattering steadily. A topic with no prior history is flagged as emerging, the earliest possible signal.

Step 2

Forecast a break-out by reach-weighted acceleration

Beyond raw volume, the agent weights every mention by the author's reach, so an influencer's post counts more than a fresh account's. It fits the curve's velocity and acceleration and, when reach-weighted volume is speeding up toward break-out levels with a positive mood, predicts roughly how many hours you have until it peaks. Meme and cultural signals nudge confidence higher because they spread fast.

Step 3

Act early, with the math shown

Each opportunity is a low-severity, explained alert: what is rising, how fast, and the projection behind it, so you can sanity-check it rather than trust a black-box score. The forecast is deterministic, no LLM guesswork, and a sensitivity dial lets you make the agent eager or cautious.

Who it’s for

Built for B2B SaaS teams that grow through timing

If a well-timed reply in a rising thread is worth more than ten replies in a dead one, the trend agent makes sure you are in the room while attention is still climbing.

Founders

Catch a category conversation breaking out early and join it authentically, without watching feeds all day.

Growth teams

Turn rising, positive topics into timely pipeline by engaging before the moment crests.

Marketers

Ride real momentum with forecasts you can verify, not vanity charts of what already trended.

FAQ

Trend & virality questions, answered

How does GrowthMeteor know a conversation is going viral?
The trend agent buckets recent mentions into hourly windows, weights each by the author's reach, and measures how fast that reach-weighted volume is accelerating. When it is speeding up toward break-out levels with a mostly-positive mood, it predicts a break-out and estimates how long until it peaks. It is deterministic math, not an LLM guess, and the projection is shown so you can check it.
How is this different from just sorting by most mentions?
Mention counts only tell you what is already big. The trend agent looks at acceleration, comparing the last 24 hours to the day before for topics, and tracking velocity and acceleration of reach-weighted volume for break-outs. That surfaces conversations still climbing, including brand-new emerging topics, instead of ones that have already peaked.
Does it only flag positive trends, or negative ones too?
The trend agent is the upside watcher: it surfaces rising, positive or neutral conversations as opportunities to join. A negativity surge is deliberately excluded here and handled by the separate crisis agent, which forecasts brewing crises the same way but on the downside. So a trend alert always means a moment worth leaning into.
Can I control how sensitive trend detection is?
Yes. The trend agent has a sensitivity dial: low surfaces only strong, well-established momentum, balanced is the default, and high catches gentler rising topics sooner. It raises low-severity opportunity alerts and will not stack a new one while you still have an open one, so the feed stays focused on the signals that matter now.
